I had been looking for a business coach when I was given the opportunity to be in a MindShare group. I was ambivalent, but decided eight business coaches had to be better than just one. In only two meetings, I have reaped benefits that have been worth the investment of my time and money–support, challenge, sound advice and being held accountable for what I say I will do. My advice to any one considering this is to take advantage of this great opportunity!

I decided to join a MindShare group to be able to benefit from a fresh set of eyes and ears as our company faces some of the challenges of running a business. I knew there would be "Best Practices" that could be shared in the open forum of a MindShare Group. So often as we do the daily tasks of running a business, we can begin to think that some of the experiences/ challenges are unique to what we are doing or not doing. Participation in the MindShare group has let me know that we, as entrepreneurs, are not alone and that many of us have shared experiences that can be discussed and dissected in a very supportive and non-judgmental environment.
Oh, and I also find that I have some ideas of value that I have been able to contribute!!!

MindShare gives me a group of advisors that can look at my business from the outside in and give me a variety of suggestions and guidance. Entrepreneurs and owners of small businesses find theirs to be some of the toughest and loneliest jobs around. As a result I, as a business consultant and advisor, often recommend to my clients that they create boards of advisors to help mentor and guide them and keep them accountable for reaching their goals. When I learned of MindShare, I quickly came to recognize that it could be a significant alternative, or perhaps a supplement, to a board of advisors. In my own case, as an independent business person with no employees, MindShare is a viable alternative to a board. The MindShare peer group will give me fresh ideas and will be a means of holding me accountable to my own goals. Having had just one meeting with my MindShare group I already envision the power that the combined “brain trust” within the group will have in keeping each of our businesses on track.

I decided to join MindShare because I feel there will be great opportunities for me to learn and experience the business climate and environment in the Cleveland area with other business owners. For me, the most appealing aspect of the program is the diversity of the business owners involved in the program – that I’m able to "pick their brains" to improve myself and my business. From my perspective, the biggest benefit will be having a "sounding board" in which to introduce new ideas, receive critiques for new marketing materials, and share concerns about my business in a confidential atmosphere.
